Standard 1: Learner Development
- The teacher understands cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and physical areas of student development.
- A teacher should understand areas of student development and practice the understanding to daily lesson based on each student’s strengths, interests, and needs.
Goal:
- Collaborates with English partner teacher to promote student growth and development.
Goal Reflection:
- To collaborate with English partner teacher is very helpful and important to understand students learning progress as we share students. We meet after school daily and have a formal meeting on every Thursday before PLC. On the daily meeting we share and discuss teaching pace and students' needs. Every Thursday we follow up weekly assign tasks, curriculum on target language and English (math, social studies, science, and literacy), collaboration with parents, monitoring students, and team problem solving. Both teachers are very busy everyday due to dual language immersion program's tide schedule. However, it is very important to meet with each other, even just for few minutes, to see if it is needed to adjust our teaching pace to meet students' needs and fulfill different areas of student development.

Evidence Reflection:
- My English partner teacher and I meet officially every Thursday for half hour discussing students' learning and development. Besides this formal meeting with my English partner teacher, we discuss daily after school or during class time if needed to update students' development and have them be formally discuss and be record weekly. At very beginning of school year, most of our formal meeting time were spent on filling out the form trying to write down our big picture of lesson plan. I then found that we didn't really have enough time to discuss students' issue and learning progress. So I started to type my part of curriculum plan so we can have more time to discuss on lesson plan and students' development. I found that the strategy is useful and allowed us having time to do meaningful discuss instead of just filling out the form. During the meeting while filling the collaboration form, I found the form is useful especially on part 4: student monitoring. We monitor those students whose behavior or academic performance are needed to be care of, and then follow up every week and compare students' behavior and performance in both Chinese class and English class. We then find out to see if the strategy works or we need to adjust the strategy to increase students' development in cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and physical areas.
